OPEN DOOR HEALTH SERVICES
- REACHING OUT IN 2015 -
Companies go through years of growth, and 2015 was a year where Open Door Health Services utilized their resources and broadened their strengths. Within the year, they partnered with surrounding communities to expand their services, they created a mobile unit to reach local schools, they extended their family practices and they even launched a new website! By providing more quality services to the disadvantaged in not only the immediate area, Open Door was able to reach a new level and scope of what healthcare could be.
After finishing up Open Door’s new website, we were approached to tackle their upcoming 2015 Annual Report. They came to us with the theme of “Expanding” and gave us examples of how they accomplished that in the past year. We thought it was a great idea and wanted to make sure that we could help illustrate those stories and make sure that the piece complimented what they were talking about. With that, we came up with a theme that lent itself to being more at the core message of what Open Door Health Services does not only it’s for its local community but the surrounding communities as well. We suggested that they change it from “Expanding” to “Reaching Out” and came up with how even the actual un-folded piece could help push the message when it was finished.
The Photo Shoot
During our initial discussions of the theme, we knew we wanted to use the fully expanded piece to showcase a custom photo of staff members and volunteers of Open Door Health Services. It took some time to coordinate due to the nature of scheduling that many people to be in once place at one time, but the day came and the weather was great! We even had to stop traffic for the photographer to get out in the middle of a busy intersection for about 5 shots in order to get the Open Door Health Services building behind everyone. With a few photo edits, such as the removal of a traffic light, the finished shot was a great representation of the people and the culture at Open Door.
Every annual report is different and we wanted to make sure that the data represented for 2015 was displayed in a unique way. By using colors and fonts from the brand guide, we were able to create some simple illustrations that were both easy to understand and perhaps a little more interesting to study than a normal bar graph.
