Whitinger Strategic Services Managing Director Judges Business Competition
April 29, 2020
Whitinger Strategic Services Managing Director, Richard Crist, recently served as a judge for Innovate WithIN™ Region 4 business idea competition. The event was designed to present k-12 students in Indiana an opportunity to showcase their innovative thinking, creative ideas, and entrepreneurial concepts with the opportunity to win a cash prize.
The Region 4 competition was held on March 12, 2020, at Ball State University’s Alumni Center. Ten finalists from the fourteen counties in Region 4 made their pitch to a panel of four judges. Team O2GO, from Oldenburg Academy, developed a product that will greatly increase mobility and convenience for users of supplemental oxygen. After winning the Region 4 semi-finals Team O2GO went on to compete in the state finals on April 8th where they finished third out of nine teams.
“I was shocked by the level of professionalism and creativity displayed by each team of students. The business ideas and solutions to real-world problems the students presented were on par with many ideas I have seen in adult business idea competitions,” stated Richard Crist. “It was very encouraging to see the passion and entrepreneurial spirit these students demonstrated.”
Students from across Indiana have a hands-on learning opportunity through Innovate WithIN™, designed to serve the state’s entrepreneurial ecosystem by providing programming, pitching and pathways to nurture the next generation of innovators.
